29 Born Again Christians returned their West African Examination Certificate to the West African Examination Council (WAEC), admitting they cheated in the Exams.
However, this news is generating much controversy among social media users.
While some saw it as a godly and necessary act, others termed it foolish and rather unnecessary.
To many, it turned out a laughing stock
We noted some of the trending opinions
A Facebook user, name undisclosed, who described the act as funny said,
“Yes nau…..how would a police man that has been collecting bribe for about five years restitute after he is born again? How would an Alhaji with five wives each of them had 3 children for him restitute, should he send four away after being born again?”
Another user wrote, “They are trying to make up for their sins,,, what Christ already did. But what do I know? I’m not a pastor after all”
We heard from pastors too
A pastor said, “Restitution indeed a second work of disgrace. Very laughable sir. Let’s use another case scenario. This guy was a armed robber, he had raped so many ladies before he received Christ. My question how does he restitute that..Haha • Reply • 1 • 20 hrs”
A devoted church minister wrote, “They are on their own if they acted against the Holy Spirit direction… Restitution!!! People need more teaching about it.”
“Good for them as long as they feel peace and atonement”
As if these were not enough, we saw comments on it from other websites too.
A commentator on linda Ikeji
“MUMU DE SMELL. WILL THEY RETURN THE MONEY THEY EARNED WITH THE CERTIFICATES AND THE SEX THEY HAD WHEN THEY WERE NOT BORN AGAIN? RETURNING THE CERTIFICATES IS NOT ENOUGH, THEY SHOULD GO TO THEIR RESPECTIVE SCHOOLS AND FORMER TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS AND APOLOGISE. THEY SHOULD NOT FORGET THEIR PARENTS AND GUARDIAN IN THEIR APOLOGIES. RUBBISH.”
ome were confused and afraid
“Make dem no make Waec cancel my own ooo” someone wrote.
